Now that fall has finally arrived {although you can’t tell by the ninety degree heat here in Orlando…} I’ve been changing up my makeup and trying a few new beauty products. I’m the type of girl who loves playing with makeup and exploring new looks. However, on most days I stick to the same soft, natural look. I enjoy switching up my lip colors but for eye shadows I’m usually wearing cool-toned neutral hues in taupes, browns, soft pinks, and plums. Many years ago when I worked in the beauty industry, I had the privilege of working for several brands – most of which I still wear to this day! So in today’s post I thought it would be fun to highlight a few new favorites I’ve been wearing and loving for the fall season.
Foundation
I finally purchased the Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation after hearing people rave about it for years. This is a matte, natural finish foundation that you’ve probably heard of before because it’s one of the top selling foundations of all time! Why did it take me so long to try this one?! It is definitely lives up to the hype! It’s buildable, so I’d say it’s between a natural to full coverage finish. I use the Ultimate Buff brush from EcoTools to buff it into my skin and then a damp blender sponge to soften and blend. I set it using my favorite Laura Mercier translucent powder. Normally, I get oily on my t-zone frequently throughout the day but this foundation does a great job at controlling oil and minimizing the need for touch-ups. Side note: I purchased this pump to use with mine to help with application.
Eye Shadow
Lancôme’s fall collection is a collaboration with the American fashion house Proenza Schouler and they kindly sent me a few products to try. It is full of playful, vibrant colors in abstract modern packaging, true to Proenza Schouler’s designs. The Chroma Eye Shadow Palette in Cold has cool-toned colors that immediately caught my attention. I’ve been using the cream color all over my lid with the pink and violet hues blended into the crease. The deep navy looks great smudged along the lash line for a little definition. The palette includes a few creams based shadows, too, which I didn’t realize at first but they blend nicely and last a very long time on the lid.
Blush
One of my all-time favorite Bobbi Brown blushes is Pale Pink – a bright, bubblegum pink. I reach for this when my skin feels lackluster – especially in the fall and winter. It provides just the right amount of vibrance and warmth. The application is silky smooth and lasts forever on my skin. All of Bobbi Brown blushes are extremely pigmented and look very vibrant in the pan but don’t let that fool you, they give the perfect natural flush to your cheeks with just one swipe of a brush. One of the easiest blushes to apply!
Lips
Lipsticks are my weakness. I love trying new colors and formulas and rarely purchase the same color twice! However, Chanel’s Ultra Wear Lip Colour in Tender Beige has been a favorite of mine since I worked for the brand in my early twenties. They recently revamped the formula and I love it just the same. It lasts all day long – you can eat, drink out of water bottles, coffee mugs and it’ll stay put. And the best part? It doesn’t feel heavy on your lips at all. Most days when I wear it I forget that it’s there! It’s such a great formula and the shade Tender Beige is my go-to every day neutral.
I’ve also been wearing the L’Absolu Rouge lipstick from the Lancôme x Proenza Schouler collection in the shade Nude. This lipstick has a creamy satin finish that feels incredibly smooth on the lips. I’ve been pairing this with the eye shadow palette and they compliment each other beautifully.
Lastly, Bobbi Brown’s Luxe Lip Color in Neutral Rose has been on frequent rotation this month. I received a deluxe sample in a free gift at Sephora and I will definitely purchase the full size once I run out! I’m a huge fan of Bobbi Brown’s original lipstick {Sandwash Pink and Blondie Pink are two of my faves}, but this may be my new go-to. The smooth application and rich color payoff stays put for hours and doesn’t dry out my lips. I want to try the shade Pink Cloud next and I think Red Velvet will be perfect for the holidays!
