Since arriving in Connecticut, most of our days have been spent outdoors enjoying the cool autumn air and breathtaking views of the New England coastline. The vivid fall foliage paired with the pristine water views has been one of my favorite parts about our visit so far. Definitely much different than our beaches back home in Florida!
I knew we would be spending much of our time outdoors so one of the first items I packed in my suitcase was this soft knit pullover I purchased from Nordstrom. It’s lined with fleece making it incredibly warm yet lightweight enough to be worn all day without feeling bulky. I purchased it in the “Pelican” color option which is a mixture of tan, cream, and soft grey colors. I think it’s perfect because it goes with everything but it also is available in four additional color choices. I tend to get a little sensitive to cooler weather now that I live in Florida, but this pullover kept me comfortable and cozy – even during our sunset walk along the breezy Hammonasset Beach.

One of my favorite items for layering in the fall are turtlenecks. They’re a timeless staple that can be layered with anything. I always shop for neutral colors that can easily be mixed and matched with various items in my wardrobe. This ribbed burgundy knit by Halogen works well within my color palette for this fall and paired nicely with the Patagonia pullover. Side note: Halogen is one of my go-to brands at Nordstrom for finding affordable wardrobe staples in petite sizes!

We spent most of our first day in Connecticut exploring the charming town of Madison. My favorite local shop was RJ Julia Booksellers – a quaint, independent bookstore with an amazing selection of books and gifts. If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend checking out the cafe in the back for a warm cup of soup.
I wore these Wit & Wisdom pants that I’ve mentioned time and time again here on my blog and on YouTube. I have this style in several colors {this color is called “Dark Byzantium”} and they’re some of the most comfy pants that I own. The stretchy waistband makes them feel like you’re wearing loungewear even though they’re nice enough to wear to work! Wit & Wisdom is another one of my go-to brands when shopping for petite styles at Nordstrom.
As I mentioned above, we ended our day with a walk along the beach to watch the sun go down. I changed out of my warm, lace-up Ugg boots and into my navy matte Hunter boots to keep my feet dry during our walk. Did you know that they make a packable version of Hunters? This style is flexible and rolls up easily to fit into your suitcase when traveling!
