My beauty routine changes slightly once the weather starts changing in the spring. Although it stays warm in Florida pretty much year-round, the spring season brings more heat and humidity, which causes a few adjustments in my daily routine.

Face

One of the biggest challenges living in a warmer climate is figuring out how to wear makeup that lasts in the balmy weather, yet still looks fresh and natural. I’ve recently discovered the Power Fabric Long-Wear Liquid foundation by Giorgio Armani {shade 3.5} and wow – this formula is unlike anything I’ve tried before! It diffuses skin in a way I’ve never experienced, giving it an airbrushed effect while still appearing and feeling natural. I was surprised that it doesn’t feel heavy in the slightest, despite it being a medium/full coverage foundation. It provides enough coverage to conceal my hyperpigmentation but the velvety, matte finish doesn’t cake or settle into my smile lines. I was a little hesitate to try this one at first because the popular Luminous Silk formula didn’t work for me but I’m so happy I gave it a try! It gives my combination skin just enough glow without being too dewy in the Florida heat.

I’ve been using the Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder by Charlotte Tilburry {in 1 Fair} and it may be one of the best pressed powders I’ve tried in years. The microfine powder is super soft and gives an airbrushed effect without looking like you’re wearing powder. I’m very picky when it comes to powders, too. I’ve never been a huge fan of them because they tend to look too makeup-y {I know that’s not a word but you get what I mean…} and this one looks natural yet actually works. I dust this on my t-zone and under my eyes to set my concealer and it gives a smooth, diffused finish. I’ve also been using my go-to Bobbi Brown blush in Pale Pink {last mentioned here} to add a wash of color to my cheeks. I think the bright pink color is beautiful for spring but it’s one that I gravitate towards all year long.

Eyes

I keep my eye makeup look pretty simple and only use a few colors at a time. The Bobbi Brown Haute Nudes Eyeshadow Palette is my newest obsession and I’ve used it every day since I bought it! It has ten neutral shades that are perfect for spring and great for wearing day to night. My go-to look is using Cream all over my lid with Tulle Sweet and Rose-Suede in my crease. Damask Ball and Champagne Toast both look beautiful swept over the lid and Spun Silk and Vintage Velvet are gorgeous for an evening look. I also like using Vintage Velvet along my upper lash line instead of using an eyeliner pencil. It’s natural, yet still provides depth.

Lips

For my lip color in the spring, I tend to stay within pink and rosey shades. I love the wearing the Fresh Sugar Lip Balm in Petal as well as Bobbi Brown’s Lip Color {the original lipstick formula} in Pale Pink. If I’m going out for awhile and don’t have much time for touch-ups, my absolute favorite lip product is Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue by Chanel {Ultra Wear Lip Colour}. If you’re looking for a liquid lipstick that doesn’t dry out your lips and that actually lasts for hours {even through eating/drinking} this is the best of the best!! I’ve been using this product for almost eight years. They’ve recently reformulated it and it’s still one of my faves! It has a clear gloss on one side that you can re-apply throughout the day and the color stays put. I love the shade Merry Rose for spring – a beautiful, natural light pink. Tender Beige is a deeper, mauve-pink and another shade I wear often.

Fragrance

I’m the type of person to change up my fragrances depending on the season, my mood, and even my outfit. I’m slightly obsessed with scents and change them up quite often. Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt was a fragrance I started wearing last spring. It smells like a walk on the beach yet the sage note gives it a warm and comforting depth. I’ve been layering it with a newer discovery, Jo Malone’s English Pear and Freesia. This one smells fruity but not overly sweet. I’m typically not a fan of fruity fragrances but the patchouli note in this one adds balance and keeps it sophisticated.

Another fragrance I’ve fallen in love with is Aerin’s Evening Rose. I tend to gravitate towards rose fragrances but this one is extremely different than the others rose scents in my perfume collection. There are two rose notes, rose centifolia and Bulgarian rose absolute, but what makes it so special are the cognac, blackberry, and incense notes. They contrast beautifully and provide a mysterious, alluring richness to the fragrance. It’s definitely a head turner and one to save for a special occasion, like date night or an evening wedding.
