I am so thrilled to share my closet/office with you today! When Matt and I moved from our small apartment last September, my number one desire was to have a space dedicated as my office and filming room. I wanted to have an inspiring dressing room to fuel my creativity. Now I finally have space in our home dedicated entirely to creating all of my video and blog content! This is where I find inspiration, answer emails, hold meetings, style outfits, edit videos and photos, write blog posts, and everything else it takes to run both my blog and YouTube channel.
My favorite part of this room is the gold etagere. I use this as a way to display various inspiring books and pretty items that bring me joy. One of my most cherished items on the shelf is the hand painted velvet handbag I inherited from my great-grandmother. I was too young when she passed to inquire how/where she wore it but I love imagining the places it’s been. She was one of my earliest style icons after all.
I use a this clothing rack to display my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. I organize it differently each season or when I get new pieces I want to display. It also serves as my background in most of my YouTube videos.
I’m a shoe lover so having my favorite pairs on display makes me happy. I used this white bookshelf to feature some of my favorites in my wardrobe. I enjoy color-coordinating each pair and selecting styles to showcase every season.
Closet Organization
After Matt and I moved, the closet in this bedroom became cluttered fast. It was a random assortment of books, clothes, camera equipment and lighting, and storage items like our Christmas tree and ornaments. I knew it needed organizing desperately so when Hannah, a pro-organizer and owner of Home Refreshment, reached out to me on Instagram I couldn’t wait to get started!
Here’s what it looked like before:
And here’s after!
To begin, I went through everything from the closet to declutter and purge. I donated the majority of the clothes I didn’t want but I saved a few items to sell on Poshmark {I haven’t had a chance to list anything yet but you can follow me here to shop as soon as I do!}.
Hannah helped me find these hyacinth storage baskets for items like swimsuits, small handbags/clutches, and winter wear. She reorganized my clothes by color to help me when styling outfits. This made such a difference!
I never hang my knits and sweaters so I found these clear bins to store them. I love how the bins fit neatly stacked on top of each other and I can always add more if needed. I also purchased these stackable shoe racks from Target to use for my shoes and to house more storage baskets. We used these white boxes to store notebooks and keepsakes that needed to lay flat. The finished product is exactly what I wanted – functional, organized, and clutter free.
If you’re located in Florida and looking to get organized, you can get in touch with Hannah with Home Refreshment here! And if you’re not local to Florida she offers Skype sessions, too!
While I feel living spaces are ever-changing and evolving, I’m happy to finally be able to share this personal space where I coach clients and create the content you see from me each week!
