Autumn is a little over a month away, so today I’m sharing a few workwear basics that are perfect for transitioning into the fall season.
Although the temperatures here in Florida are still reaching the upper nineties almost daily, these pieces are versatile and can be worn even as the temperatures begin to drop.
Little Black Dress
A black sheath dress is a classic wardrobe staple that I always invest in. This style from White House Black Market has a faux leather trim that adds a unique, flattering contrast. Since sheath silhouettes are more fitted, I always shop for fabrics that contain a bit of stretch for comfort. I like the Body Perfecting Collection from WHBM because the fabrics they use are sturdy and lined, yet soft and comfortable enough to wear while sitting at a desk. Also, it doesn’t wrinkle!
The best part about a little black dress is its versatility. It’s one of those pieces that can be worn appropriately no matter the season. On warmer days, I opt for a fun, lightweight printed scarf that I can drape over my shoulders if I get cold (this snake print style is a great on-trend option for fall!).
Patterned Jacket
You can also pair a simple black dress with a cardigan, blazer, or jacket. I opted for this black-and-white grid patterned jacket because I love the tiered peplum hem. It’s a subtle yet feminine detail that doesn’t look distracting. I’m all for feminine details, but for workwear I try to keep it simple and polished while still staying true to my personal style. The classic black and white pattern works for late summer and transitioning into the fall season.
Shoes + Accessories
Shoes and accessories are another area you can showcase your creativity while styling workwear basics to transition into fall. I love these sleek, honey hued sandals – they add the perfect fall appropriate pop of color to an otherwise simple outfit. I added these removable gold shoe clips to mine for a dressier look. If you prefer to keep your footwear simple, these black pumps with a white trim are a fun option, yet they are a little more understated. You could also tie in a pop of color with a printed scarf, like this silk style.
Huge thanks to White House Black Market for collaborating with me on this post! As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
